“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
― John Muir
Welcome to my blog! My name is Bruno and I’m from Argentina. Having lived most of my life in Patagonia, I always felt attracted to nature and wilderness. I remember I would spend my summer holidays in the mountains, hiking, or swimming in pristine lakes in the Andes. We traveled a lot with my parents. I grew up with a passion for traveling and exploring new places.
In my early teen years, I became addicted to books about travel and exploration. The first travelogue I ever read was “The age of Discovery”, which introduced me to the German scientist and explorer of South America, Alexander von Humboldt. His constant sense of wonder in the face of nature had inspired travelers from all over the world to come to South America in his wake. Another book which has expanded my horizons and made me set out for adventure was “The voyage of the Beagle” by Charles Darwin. I was inspired by their stories. I haven’t stopped reading since then, another of my passions.
When I finished high school, I knew I wanted to study something related to traveling, but I also wanted to combine it with geography and history, so I majored in Tourism. I also studied foreign languages (learning new languages is also one of my biggest passions). As I traveled for both work and pleasure, I developed what would become a life-long passion for photography.
I love road trips. I’ve spent hundreds of hours on the road. I’ve seen many places. I’ve met people from all backgrounds. They all had something to tell. They all wanted to share something. The more I traveled, the more I felt I needed to write about the places I visited, so I decided to take my notebook everywhere I went. Two years ago, I became a full-time writer.
I’ve lived many years in Patagonia, until I transferred for work to Buenos Aires in 2017. I’ve always been fascinated with Patagonia. It’s a mystical land, full of stories. As Argentine explorer Ramón Lista once said: “Everything here stirs our emotions: sometimes it is the sad barrenness of the plains; or the magnificent chaos of its mountains.”
I thought it was a good idea to start a blog and share many of my favorite stories from Patagonia. It’s a vast region. There is always a new place to visit. Currently, besides my blog, I also write for travel magazines and digital newspapers. I’m also working on my new e-book “Stories from Patagonia”, which contains a selection of my favorite stories, as well as many of my travel articles and short guides.
When I’m not at home writing, I’m somewhere lost in Patagonia, either in Argentina or Chile. Most likely hiking a mountain in the Andes or visiting new places and taking notes, because every place has a story to tell. And I’m happy to share many of them with you!
